Excel 2010, GOAL SEEK
Hiiiiiii , and a very good day to all my readers. I have been receiving queries related to Advanced Excel features including, GOAL SEEK, SCENARIO, PIVOT TABLE, SUBTOTAL, FORMULA etc. We shall be discussing each and every feature of Advance Excel in Detail. Firstly we'll be learning the GOAL SEEK Feature
Goal Seek
Goal Seek is used t o determine the value of any input cell(cell being used in the formula) new value for formula cell is known. Suppose we have following table available with us having details of employees along with Salary figure and computed bonus value as 12 % of Salary
Goal Seek
Here in the above table, if you would like to determine the new Salary for employee name "SOFT" , for a new Bonus value of 4100 (where Bonus is calculated as 12 % of salary) . To do so,follow the steps mentioned below,
- Place cell pointer in formula cell(in our case, Bonus Cell)
- Data > What If Analysis> Goal Seek
- Goal Seek dialog box appears in which supply following details
Understanding the details asked under Goal Seek
- Set Cell: Specify the Address of Formula Cell
- To Value: Mention the new value of Formula Cell for which we want to calculate the new value of Input Cell(In our case , it is 4100 for Bonus Cell)
- By Changing Cell : Specify the Address of cell whose new value is to be determined (In our case, address of Salary Cell)
- Click OK to determine whether EXCEL has found a solution or not.
In case the formula is not related to specified cell, EXCEL may not have found a solution, you may receive the Error Message Window Instead
I hope this will work for you. Bye, and Enjoy Reading As Always....
